Sumario:The nursery rhymes [cantigas de roda] and their implications for early childhood education are the genesis of this dissertation, born of the experience of eleven years dedicated to teaching music in the Creche Comunitária Jardim Felicidade, in the northern region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil. Interested in understanding for what reasons they are so vivid and so essential to human evolution, I examine the culture of childhood, the daily practice in the classroom, the formative thinking of the institution in which we are involved and the fundamental presence of the educator in the educational process. Understand who the children are seemed to be vital to validate this form of expression, which are the round songs, the games and plays, like a proper and unique language, particular, a genuine form of participation in the world. In this sense, the music, object so attractive, reveals itself not as a means, not as an end, but as part of a fascinating process of knowing the world and above all yourself. The beauty that is expressed in these gatherings, where the master curves himself, bends to listen to children, enhances an experience that he, too, the master, is nourished by new knowledge and life.
