| Sumario: | The article is the result of a research on the movie Psycho, by Alfred Hitchcock, from 1960. The theme of the picture that covers the hole, through which the protagonist Norman Bates sees Marion Crane undressing is the element of our analysis. This is a representation of the biblical tale of Susanna and the Elders which addresses voyeurism, the incestuous desire of two judges and the violation. The work approaches the semiotic research on interface with psychoanalysis, anthropology and communication in culture. The method discussed is the filmic discourse and pictorial analysis. We mention the formal, aesthetic and structural resonances between the paintings and the film. The images analyzed in Psycho have extremely deep layers and rooted the elements located in several paintings of the 17th century, which address the topic of Susanna and the Elders. The ones that survived moved through time, space and between cultures. |
