Resumo:Introduction and objective: The following study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Kinesio Tape in patellofemoral pain in athletes, football players of a team of Montes Claros-MG. Materials and methods: A prospective study was accomplished using data collection related patellofemoral pain in football players and the efficacy of Kinesio Tape in pain relief. In that direction, to confirm the pain and the effectiveness ‘proof of the method was held, through the application of the visual analog scale (VAS), before and after training, with and without Kinesio Tape the evaluation of the athletes. Results and discussion: A total of 22 people participated in the survey, being most of them (63.6%) felt pain during sports practices and the minority (9.1%) had visible signs of injury. The comparative analysis between the measures of central tendency and the variable dispersion patellofemoral pain in the pre and post training of the first day and in the pre and post training (after using Kinesio Tape) at the second day, it was observed a significant increase in pain from pre to post training on the first day (p=0.005), and a decrease for the second day (p=0.017). Conclusion: It is concluded that the decrease in the level of patellofemoral pain of football players with the usage of Kinesio Tape, proves the technique’s effectiveness.
