| Sumario: | Introduction: Neurodevelopmental disorders are among the conditions that most affect children aged between two and nine years. Among these disorders, the most prevalent are Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The latter is characterized by affecting more than 67 million individuals around the world, which highlights the importance of carrying out research on this topic. Objective: to analyze the potential and challenges of nursing care in Autism Spectrum Disorder, covering the mother-child binomial. Method: integrative review carried out in six stages from October to November 2022 guided by the PRISMA guide. The studies were surveyed using the MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS and BDENF databases. Results: nine studies were selected and enabled the identification of two thematic axes, which were: nursing care and potential for assisting children with autism spectrum disorder; and nursing care and challenges in assisting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Final considerations: the nurse's role presents potential for care in the context of Autism Spectrum Disorder, covering assistance to the patient and their family, through guidance and collaborative activities, with a focus on ensuring the promotion of improvements in the development and quality of life of both |
