Sumario:The global AIDS pandemic caused stigmas that rarely act alone but are associated, for example, to gender stereotypes and their resultant patriarchal attitudes and practices. From this observation, this study focuses on the nature of stigma and the challenges it presents to communities of faith as they seek to deal appropriately with their role in alleviating the suffering caused by HIV and AIDS. It analyzes the nature of stigma by way of twelve observations interrelated in the understanding of stigma and its perspective of the faith. Also considering feminist theology, seeks to point to the challenge of inclusive and supportive testimony and of the rejection of all forms of stigma.
