Descripción
Sumario:The Academic League of Physiotherapy in Sport Orthopedics and Traumatology is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and nonreligious entity, unlimited in duration, organized by Physiotherapy students at INTA. The activities are governed by norms laid down in the statutes, detailing the goals, disciplinary code, and obligations of members, amongst other information, involving teaching, research, and extension. This paper aims to divulge the successful experiences of the students involved in the project. The elaboration and implementation of the League provides a good example for the creation of other leagues and extension projects. During the course of the activities, there was considerable interest of the members in scientific activities including exhibitions and discussion of topics related to orthopedics, traumatology, and sports, with group studies of articles and development of scientific projects. The group members undertook daily activities, with weekly workloads of 20 h, concerning the following areas: clinical evaluation, analgesia, muscle stretching and strengthening, proprioceptive training, plyometric training, and evaluation of return to sporting activity. The extension project in Sports Physiotherapy facilitated learning in a broad sense, with the participants able to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom.
