| Sumario: | The process of identity construction for oneself is the result of individual history, while that of identity for other agents occurs through institutions and theirs. The objective of this article is to characterize the medical professional identity and the vision of students of nationality and residency. The transversal survey method was chosen. The sample totaled 189 undergraduates and 327 resident physicians. Data were evaluated based on the Professional Self-Perception Scale. The analyzed analysis. The dimensions chosen by both groups were the ones that best identified the profession: Effort, Technicality and Dynamism. The Recognition dimension identifies the profession in the view of undergraduates, but not in that of doctors. The average Achievement dimension received very low scores in both cases, indicating suffering. It is concluded that the lack of Recognition and Realization can generate suffering and physical and mental illness. |
