Descripción
Sumario:This article deals with two celebrations that took place on August 13th of 2022 in Porto Alegre (RS, Brazil) in the context of the african-gaúcha Quimbanda, a mediunic religion based on the possession by spirits called exus and pombagiras. The first, a “birthday” party for the Exu King of the Seven Crossroads, a celebration to exalt the long time since this exu has been “working”. The other, the distribution of consecrated knives that allow their owners to sacrifice oxen, an important and desired axé in this religion.
