Sumario:This article aims to analyze the short story “Olhos d´água” (2014), present in the homonym collection, by Conceição Evaristo, to discuss representation of black woman in the Brazilian literature, to treat of importance of self-representation this figure in the contemporary Afro-Brazilian narratives, as way of questioning the Brazilian literature of present, which is still quite homogeneous, according to Regina Dalcastagnè (2012) and, consequently, the formation of national literary canon. Moreover, it is intended to show the way of search for African ancestry, by means of memory and of black and female literary creation, can work how an important instrument for the Brazilian historical and literary review, which can lead to reflection about the silencing and the stereotyping that formed the identities of black women in our territory and the way of literature has the ability to dismantle these stigmas and to reinvent positively these many identities.
