The main conflicts result of poor performance of class representatives. Capture of the mangrove crab is mostly through the hand-picking technique. Most families have this activity as the only source of income. The educational level is low. The monthly income obtained varies from R$ 250.00 to R$ 500.00 for collectors and from R$ 250.00 to R$ 1,000.00 for marketers. The sale is made as fresh and technogically-processed products. The fishermen showed great knowledge as to the ecobiology and environmental awareness. The unemployment wage is not compatible with the mangrove crab’s closed-season, although it has been set up for the fishing area and management is already under way in the villages. It is thus observed the need to establish agreements between the social actors of the system and the government offices aiming at improving the living conditions of the human population and the resource management.

Para tanto, utilizou-se a metodologia de Estudo de Caso com aplicação de questionários e entrevistas aos principais atores envolvidos no sistema. Foram identificados 11 atores, 7 processos sociais e 17 componentes no sistema. Os principais conflitos resultam da pouca atuação de órgãos representativos da classe. A captura do caranguejo-uçá é feita preferencialmente através do braceamento. A maioria das famílias tem a cata como única fonte de renda. O nível de escolaridade é baixo. A renda mensal obtida varia de R$ 250,00 a R$ 500,00 para catadores e de R$ 250,00 a R$ 1000,00 para comerciantes. A comercialização é feita in natura e com tecnologia de beneficiamento. Os catadores demonstram grande conhecimento a cerca da ecobiologia da espécie e percepção ambiental. O auxílio-desemprego não é compatível ao período de defeso do caranguejo-uçá, embora já tenha sido determinado para a área e já ocorra manejo nos povoados.
