Sumario:The present paper is part of a partner-environmental historical study carried out in the Itabira city, Mines Gerais, Brazil. The results were obtained starting from interviews for to local personalities as well as local leaders, managers, historians, union leader and politicians. To them a qualitative questionnaire was applied on three phases: before, during and after the privatization of the Companhia Vale do Rio Doce. The results demonstrated that the city faces an intense social crisis due to the definitive loss of their myths, mainly for the break of the link company-community, accentuating their members lowers self-esteem and consequent lack of future perspective, condition that it demonstrates to have an increase of psychotropic’s consumption.
