| Sumario: | The present work aims to survey articles abouthow the appraisal of archival records was addressed in the first twenty years of the twenty-first century, in some of the main journals of the area because of its prominent role. Methodologically this study is characterized as basic, exploratory and quali-quantitative in nature. The time interval considered for the survey of articles was from 2001 to 2021 and the criteria for choosing articles for study were those that, in some way, referred to the appraisal process. Each journal reflects the characteristics of the archives in its country. It was possible to see the degree and progress of discussion in each journal. Many themes were addressed, such as the need for re-evaluation, post-modern focus of the archivist's role in appraisal, amplification through appraisal of more voices and representation in the archives. In Brazil the discussion on the basic problems of records management limits the debate on contemporary issues addressed in other countries. |
