Resumo:Abstract: In 2007, the movie Elite Squad was launched in Brazil. Mainly through its main character, Captain Nascimento, the movie achieved great repercussion. The character was subject of controversy when accused of being a fascist. In 201 0, the sequel, Elite Squad - The Enemy Within, was released. This time the character was even called a national hero by a major magazine. The aim of this paper is to discuss the construction of Nascimento as a hero, trying to identify what allowed this interpretation. In order to do so, the final sequences of the two featured films were analyzed from the perspective of the Materialist Discourse Analysis and camera movements that created the identity of the character. As a result, it was observed that there is indeed a shift in the way the character is constructed that allowed him to occupy the heroic subject positions
