| Sumario: | The objectives of this study are: to identify the drugs most used for weight loss; present the benefits and harms; seek information about what leads people to seek these drugs in addition to weight loss. It is, therefore, a theoretical research, based on a literature review study, whose data collection took place from March to June 2021. The studies found reveal the indiscriminate use of anorexigenic medications that are consumed with the aim of weight loss. Field studies in local populations need to be carried out periodically as a strategy for a better understanding of social behaviors and establishment of actions aimed at informing and raising awareness among the population about the risks of self-medication and the need for a specialized multiprofessional support network to monitor the loss of weight. |
