This dynamism is linked to the transformations that human beings cause and which ends up reverberating in the school space. It is believed that schools should provide students with the opportunity to develop critical sense. To this end, curricular subjects such as Geography can contribute by developing geographical thinking. With this in mind, the question arises: How do students in the ninth year of elementary school understand the Geography curriculum based on what they have been taught in the classroom? With this in mind, we set ourselves the general objective of identifying the main conceptual understanding that ninth grade students at a municipal school in the city of Maravilha (SC) have in relation to the subject of Geography. To this end, we propose the following specific objectives: 1) To discuss the importance of teaching Geography in the formation of the subject; and, 2) To present the geographical concepts learned, based on the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. The methodology adopted is based on qualitative research, intertwined with action research, supported by neomodernity, forming a powerful coalition for this type of approach, characterized by the analysis of interpretations, comparisons and exposure of data from other studies and research. It also involves bibliographical research, characterized by the use of scientifically prepared materials. It is, therefore, an article that seeks to understand the conceptual notion formed by ninth grade students about Geography and that demonstrates its relationship with the students’ daily lives. It was observed that school geography is able to build lasting concepts and notions in students, in a significant way, which is demonstrated when they are able to relate everyday interactions with geographical concepts learned in the classroom.

Se considera que la escuela debe brindar a los alumnos la oportunidad de desarrollar un sentido crítico. Para ello, materias curriculares como la Geografía pueden contribuir a través del desarrollo del pensamiento geográfico. Con esto en mente, surge la pregunta: ¿Cómo entienden los alumnos de noveno curso de primaria el currículo de Geografía a partir de lo aprendido en el aula? Teniendo esto en cuenta, nos propusimos como objetivo general identificar las principales comprensiones conceptuales que los alumnos de noveno año de una escuela municipal de la ciudad de Maravilha (SC) tienen en relación a la asignatura de Geografía. Para ello, nos proponemos los siguientes objetivos específicos: 1) Discutir la importancia de la enseñanza de la Geografía en la formación del sujeto; y, 2) Presentar los conceptos geográficos aprendidos, a partir de la aplicación de un cuestionario semiestructurado. La metodología adoptada se basa en la investigación cualitativa, entrelazada con la investigación-acción, apoyada en la neomodernidad, formando una poderosa coalición para este tipo de abordaje, caracterizado por el análisis de interpretaciones, comparaciones y exposición de datos de otros estudios e investigaciones. También implica la investigación bibliográfica, caracterizada por el uso de materiales científicamente preparados. Se trata, por lo tanto, de un artículo que busca comprender la noción conceptual formada por los alumnos de noveno grado sobre Geografía y demuestra su relación con la vida cotidiana de los estudiantes. Se observó que la Geografía escolar es capaz de construir conceptos y nociones duraderas en los alumnos, de forma significativa, lo que se demuestra cuando ellos son capaces de relacionar las interacciones cotidianas con los conceptos geográficos aprendidos en el aula.A Geografia é a ciência que busca compreender as complexidades que se apresentam no espaço geográfico. Esse dinamismo está atrelado às transformações que os seres humanos provocam e acabam reverberando no espaço escolar. Acredita-se que a escola deva proporcionar aos estudantes o desenvolvimento do senso crítico. Para tanto, as disciplinas curriculares como a Geografia podem contribuir para isso por meio do desenvolvimento do pensamento geográfico. Nessa direção, pergunta-se: como estudante do nono ano do Ensino Fundamental II compreende o Componente Curricular de Geografia a partir do que foi trabalhado em sala de aula? Nesse sentido, definimos como objetivo geral identificar o principal entendimento conceitual que os estudantes do nono ano do ensino Fundamental II de uma escola municipal na cidade de Maravilha-SC têm em relação à disciplina de Geografia. Para tanto, propomos como objetivos específicos: 1) Discutir a importância do ensino de Geografia na formação do sujeito; e, 2) Apresentar os conceitos geográficos apreendidos, a partir da aplicação de um questionário semiestruturado. A metodologia adotada sustenta-se na pesquisa qualitativa, entrecruzada com a pesquisa-ação, sustentadas pela neomodernidade, formando uma coalisão potente para esse tipo de abordagem, caracterizando-se pela análise de interpretações, comparações e exposição de dados, oriundos de outros estudos e pesquisas. Envolve, também, a pesquisa bibliográfica, caracterizada por dispor de materiais elaborados cientificamente. Trata-se, portanto, de um artigo que busca entender a noção conceitual formada pelos estudantes do nono ano sobre a Geografia e que demonstra a sua relação com o cotidiano dos estudantes.
