Summary:Bovine tuberculosis is a zoonosis with great importance to public health, besides being responsible for economic losses to livestock farming, with reduced milk and meat productivity, and restrictions to the commercialization of products. Post-mortem inspection in cattle slaughterhouses is an important tool for detecting infected herds. The objective of this study was to characterize the cases of bovine tuberculosis in animals from rural establishments located in São Paulo State, slaughtered in abattoirs registered with the Federal Inspection Service. between 2013 and 2022. In the ten-year period, 2,368 cattle affected by tuberculosis were diagnosed, coming from 965 different properties distributed throughout the State of São Paulo.  The data obtained show that bovine tuberculosis remains an important disease in São Paulo livestock and should be the target of animal health defense measures, with surveillance for detection and sanitation of outbreaks.
