Sumario:The education, as never before, lacks elements that aid individuals in their humanizing process. During the research, which had as a context the problem of educating and learning, and the intellect’s priority over other dimensions of the human being, it sought to answer the following issue: how does the school-tutoring project articulate with the Augustinian methodology for a humanizing education? Such questioning led to the preparation of a critical and analytical dissertation regarding the tutorship developed in Augustinian schools, particularly Saint Augustine –SP school, considering the bishop of Hippo´s educational thinking and, consequently, the Augustinian pedagogical methodology developed by the Order of Saint Augustine´s friars, with the purpose of comprehending how these elements articulate with tutoring practices that become more humanizing. Thus, in order to achieve such purpose, at the beginning, it will be investigated the human condition and the contribution of education to the entire development of a human being and the Christian education as one more possible way to humanization. Right after, it´s intended to present the heritage of Saint Augustine´s thinking devoted to education, its development through an own methodology and the Augustinian school´s style adopted by the Order of Saint Augustine throughout the world and mainly in Brazil. Lastly, it will be explored the tutoring project proposal, some aspects incorporated in the Augustinian´s style and its impact according to the view of some members of the school community. Applying the qualitative approach, based on documental and bibliographical research, it arrived at the conclusion that Augustinian´s thinking and methodology complement and support the tutoring project because they offer elements for all of the members from the educational community involved to guide themselves in their pedagogical activity and achieve a humanizing educational process
