Descrição
Resumo:The presence of afro-descendants in India is very old. This article highlights some characteristic aspects of the processes of inferiorization and exclusion faced by the so-called Siddis and discusses identity strategies and strategies of political action that have guided their struggles. It also points to notable internal differences and transformations that have occurred throughout history. Based on concrete empirical analyses, the text seeks to dialogue with theoretical-conceptual reflections on the idea of African diaspora.
