Descripción
Sumario:This research aimed to observe the Old Portuguese lexical inheritances in the modern Cariri Portuguese. Regarding the corpus, it was restricted, in Old Portuguese, to Cancioneiro da Ajuda and Cancioneiro da Vaticana, and, in Cariri Portuguese, to the works of Patativa do Assaré. Concerning theoretical framework, it was based on three axes: socio-historical aspects of the Portuguese language; fundamental concepts of Philology and Historical Linguistics, such as lexicon, etymon, and archaism; and etymological tracking presented by etymological dictionaries and etymological manuals. As a result, we obtained some lexical units that corroborated the objectives of this research, being a fruitful theme for Philology and Historical Linguistics.
