| Sumario: | Objective: The present study analyzes the sex life of eight couples undergoing infertility treatment in a reproductive medicine program in the city of São José do Rio Preto, Brazil. Methods: A comprehensive interview was conducted addressing the sex life prior to marriage, after marriage, after the decision to have a child, after perceiving difficulty in becoming pregnant and during the course of the investigation and treatment. Results: Even if the subjectivity of sexual behavior make it difficult to achieve a unique pattern of healthy sex, in this study the possible pregnancy through treatment in human reproduction center directed the collaborators to unlink the sexual pleasure from the procreative function, resulting in loss of spontaneity and becoming mechanical the sexual activity. Conclusion: The routine of consultations and clinical investigation in human reproduction center becomes mechanical the marital sexual activity, interfering in the sexual health. |
