Sumario:The natural flowering of pineapple is an undesirable process and its occurrence can be reduced or eliminated with the use of ethylene action inhibitors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of silver thiosulfate (STS) in inhibiting and / or delay the natural flowering of pineapple. Plantlets called slips of pineapple 'Victory' were used. The design was a randomized block design with three replications and five concentrations of STS, (0, 0.5, 1, 2 and 3 mmol L-1). 50 mL of solution were applied to the whole plant with 15 days apart, in the months from May to July. The characteristics evaluated were the percentage of plants with natural floral induction, percentage of plants with natural floral induction cumulatively, plant growth and fruit, leaf length 'D', number of leaves, stem diameter, fruit weight , length and diameter of fruit, soluble solids, hydrogen potential (pH) and acidity of the pulp. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and 5% regression and F test (p <0.05). The application ofSTS in the whole plant caused a delay and reduction of natural flowering. No observed changes in chemical characteristics of fruits for the different concentrations. The application of STS to reduce stem diameter and lengthen the crown of the fruit.
