Sumario:Based on the history of the Fotoativa Association work and its impact on photographic production in Pará and the occupation of urban space in the city of Belém, what reflections can be made on heritage when we take photography as a starting point? To carry out this research, historiographical data on photography in Pará from the 1980s onwards was based on the work of Marisa Mokarzel (2014) and Orlando Maneschy (2012). For an anthropological analysis, analyzing the unique characteristics of its construction process and relationship with subjects (GEERTZ, 1997), photography in Pará - crossed by Fotoativa - constitutes a system of thought (SAMMAIN, 2018) and constantly changing cultural signs that possess and represent the values of social groups (FERNANDES; ROCHA; CARELLI, 2021). Based on this action, the association can play a role in social transformation when we consider the association's history of action within the operating chain of heritage (BARBOZA; MENDONÇA, 2024).
