Sumario:The concept of ‘aesthetics’ have been intimately associated with the Arts and studies along the lines of beauty. Likewise, the concept of ‘communication aesthetics’ have often been associated with some ‘communicative’ element in works of art. However, in the last twenty years, some thinkers have proposed that the concept of ‘communication’ should be understood, among other dimensions, as an aesthetical phenomenon. This paper develops this idea by using a threefold argument: (a) it briefly places the notion of ‘aesthetics’ in Communication Studies; (b) it explores the Greek notion of ‘aesthetics’ to stress the relational element on it; (c) it stresses the relacional in aesthetics as the key to understand ‘communication’ as an comprehensive and intersubjective process.
