Descripción
Sumario:It is understood that discussing conceptual issues is an important prerequisite for professional training and intervention. For this purpose, an essay was built that conceptually discusses sport. The idea is to favor the debate of education, starting from the field of Education, since sport is a content of curricular component of basic education, and covers different areas, constituting itself as a phenomenon of modernity. It was used a theoretical framework formed by authors who discuss the sport category in Brazil and, also, rereading through the incorporation of concepts and elaborations of Bourdieu (1983) and Elias and Dunning (1992). In the itinerary of the text an examination of the transformation process experienced by body practices, especially the game, is performed. Such transformation process has been treated in the literature as sportivization. According to the arguments presented, it is concluded that bodily practices are gradually placed under a condition that makes them sports - the sports condition - and may gradually cease to their original form.
