Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to analyze the Amazon representations present in Brasil Ragnarök Online (BRO), an online game for thousands of simultaneous participants. In 2009 an additional content to the game was released, a virtual city called Brasilis. It is a representation of Brazil containing several ludic, audio-visual and narrative elements that refer to cultural, natural and historical aspects about the country, especially Amazon region, focus of this research. For analysis, it was used the methodological proposals for games: Procedural Rethoric (BOGOST, 2007; 2008); digital game model (PINHEIRO, 2007); and dynamic hermeneutic (TEIXEIRA, 2007). From the analysis, it was found that the meanings constructed by BRO reinforce stereotypes about the Amazon, in order to present circularity with existing senses in society, particularly related to the exploration and colonization of the region. Nevertheless, it is understood that digital games are configured as a potential media for appreciation, resistance and debate about the Amazon.
