Descripción
Sumario:Objective: To qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the importance of a natural asset from an economic and environmental perspective, through a process of valuation and estimation of the economic value of the Camilo Viana Utinga State Park (PEUT). Theoretical Framework: Based on the concepts of sustainability, climate change and environmental and ecosystem indicators, with a focus on the interrelationship between the environment, society and the economy. Method: A literature review on the construction of environmental and ecosystem indicators based on 13 variables for the contingent valuation approach and a comparison with the two other valuation approaches: the carbon credit market method and the timber price or benefit-cost method. Results and Discussion: The results show that keeping the forest standing is much more positive, both in terms of sustainability, climate change mitigation and the economy, based on the values obtained from the three approaches applied. Research implication: The research has contributed to understanding contemporary economic and environmental challenges, providing support for the construction of more assertive and effective public policies. Originality/Value: The study proposes a practical approach to evaluating the promotion of ecosystem and environmental services, providing data for the formulation of more effective public policies in urban areas.
