| Sumario: | Hip-hop culture emerged in the American ghettos in 1970 and, because of the globalization process, it soon reached the periphery of Brazilian cities. Investigating this cultural phenomenon in the city of Curitiba, we found that the same agents who criminalize Hip-hop, such as mainstream media, appropriate and use its elements in the cultural industry for political, financial and personal interests. Considering that in its beginning this movement was a tool of response to social repression, what does such appropriation imply in the manifestation and dynamics of Hip-Hop in individuals? This research seeks to problematize this appropriation through qualitative methods from an urban perspective of investigation. |
