Descripción
Sumario:This article aims to contribute to discussions on research groups in the field of education and the methodological possibilities for researching them. Aspects about the relevance of the groups are presented based on specialized, international literature. A brief history of research groups in Brazil, the situation of research on these groups in the area of education, and the possibilities of investigation are also presented. Five areas of investigation are outlined, structured in three levels of approach: macro, meso and micro. It is argued in favor of the relevance of research on the subject, considering that, alongside the graduate disciplines, mentoring sessions and participation in scientific events, research groups are fundamental spaces for the acquisition of scientific habitus.
