Sumario:Alzheimer’s Disease is the main cause of dementia and represents a growing issue for health care, so it is essential that professionals in the field are prepared to manage these patients properly. However, countless studies show that the most used pharmacological classes, as the cholinesterase inhibitors, present limited efficacy and safety, which implies that disease-modifying treatments remain unknown. Thus, new studies came up proposing the investigation of different therapeutic interventions, such as acupuncture, which presents itself as an emerging and innovative treatment, since the current findings point to its great potential for effectiveness, in addition to showing fewer associated adverse effects.
