Sumario:The focus of this text portrays the experience of aging in rural areas, a reflection resulting from a doctoral research whose centrality was to understand the particularities of the aging process in the city and in the countryside, considering intergenerational family relationships and retirement. The choice of the Northeast region was justified by the absence of further studies that address old age in this place. Therefore, it is essential to interpret the practices and representations of the social actors inserted in such a space, above all, social as well as geographical.
