Sumario:Objective: to review the scientific production about the factors that predispose the emergence of nipple trauma in nursing mothers that may compromise the continuity of exclusive breastfeeding. Method: this is an integrative review. The survey of publications took place between October and November 2020, using the descriptors "Breastfeeding", "Weaning", "Postpartum Period", "Puerperium", in addition to the keyword: "nipple trauma" in the Scopus databases , PubMed Central: PMC, EMBASE and CINAHL. Nine articles were selected for the final sample. Results: After analyzing the data, there were four thematic axes entitled: "Prenatal education", "Predictors for the development of nipple trauma", "Factors associated with the breast" and "Influence of the insertion of bottles and pacifiers in the grip" . Conclusion: Most studies show a lack of information and inadequate positioning of the baby as predictors of nipple trauma, as well as cesarean surgery, breast physiology, use of a bottle and/or pacifiers.
