| Sumario: | Poverty as data cannot be interpreted only as the absence of income. We must take into account the social context in which certain groups are inserted to have a complete understanding of the marginalization to which they are subject. As an example of that, we work in this essay with the case of transvestites and transsexual women that are involved in prostitution in the city of Belo Horizonte, which are known for achieving high rates of gross income, but still live a life of full invisibility. This work analyzes data from a survey conducted with trans women in a situation of prostitution in Belo Horizonte to understand and comment on their access to goods and rights and the configuration of poverty as a reality, regardless of the income that this activity generates. In addition to the analysis of the graphs, a bibliographic survey was conducted on the construction and development of prostitution in Brazil. |
