| Sumario: | Introduction: The involuntary return of gastric contents and frequent disease of the gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) can trigger respiratory changes. The Rebalancing Thoracoabdominal Movements (RTA) is characterized by minimize changes in respiratory function, improving ventilation and consequent respiratory effort. Objective: To assess the immediate effects of the handlings of the RTA in cardiorespiratory parameters, signs of respiratory distress (Bulletin Silvermann-Anderson), pain (scale of Lawrence), behavior (Prechtl and Beinteman scale) and symptoms (questionnaire) in children. Methods: We evaluated ten children with a mean age of 15.01+ 18.20 months, using the above evaluation parameters recorded before, immediately after, and 15 minutes after application of the RTA. Results: The technique showed positive effects on the cardiorespiratory system, evidenced by increased and decreased SpO₂ fr, in most children with GERD. Conclusion: The application of RTA showed benefits in children with GERD without influencing the behavior or cause complications. |
