description This research is an investigation of the process of searching for information on the internet and digital social media during the stages of pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. The media's centrality in the contemporary world means that periods related to the birth of a child are permeated by media content that influences the experience of women. This context creates an environment in which society is inserted, it is the mediatization of motherhood. At the same time, women have the possibility to search for topics of interest on websites and digital social media, as well as sharing their experiences, doubts and desires, generating a mediated experience of the birth of a child. We aim to understand how pregnant women and mothers look for information on the internet and social media in Natal (RN). To carry out the work we chose the theorists Barbero (2003, 2006 and 2014), Lopes (2014), Braga (2012) and Silverstone (2002). Childbirth as a ritual of passage (GEERTZ, 1989) and its social and cultural structures in Brazil is treated to understand the context in which motherhood is inserted. In order to understand the dynamics of the meaning bonds (TRINDADE; PEREZ 2019) of women, in-depth interviews were conducted with three middle-class women from Natal (RN). We follow the entire process to record their life stories (MAIA, 2006 e 2019) and the moments of their lives. The dissertation also has an autobiography (WALL, 2006, and PEREIRA, 2017) of motherhood together with a summary of the main contents accessed during their experiences of pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. The final consideration is that women search the internet and social media for information on the subject. And the way each one develops their search is associated with factors such as education, networks of affection, life history and health conditions of the pregnancy-baby.

A centralidade da mídia no mundo contemporâneo faz com que os períodos relativos ao nascimento de um filho sejam perpassados por conteúdos midiáticos que influenciam a vivência de mulheres. Este contexto cria uma ambiência em que a sociedade está inserida, é a midiatização da maternagem. Ao mesmo tempo, as mulheres têm a possibilidade de buscar assuntos de interesse em páginas na internet e em mídias sociais digitais, bem como podem compartilhar suas vivências, dúvidas e anseios, gerando uma experiência mediada do nascimento de um filho. Temos como objetivo entender como se dá a busca de informações na internet e mídias sociais pelas gestantes e mães em Natal (RN). Para realização do trabalho escolhemos os teóricos Barbero (2003, 2006 e 2014), Lopes (2014), Braga (2012) e Silverstone (2002). O parto enquanto ritual de passagem (GEERTZ, 1989) e suas estruturas sociais e culturais no Brasil é tratado para se entender o contexto em que a maternidade está inserida. Para compreender a dinâmica dos vínculos de sentido (TRINDADE; PEREZ 2019) das mulheres foram realizadas entrevistas em profundidade com três mulheres de classe média de Natal (RN). Acompanhamos todo o processo para registrar suas histórias de vida (MAIA, 2006 e 2019) e os momentos de sua vida. A dissertação também conta com uma autoetnografia (WALL, 2006, e PEREIRA, 2017) da maternidade juntamente com um resumo dos principais conteúdos acessados durante suas vivências de gestação, parto e maternagem. A consideração final é que as mulheres buscam na internet e mídias sociais informações sobre o assunto.
