Descripción
Sumario:This article deals with the specifics status of oracular knowledge in Oedipus Rex. Different from Antígone, Sophocles seems to withdraw most of the divine aspects from Tiresias' wisdom, which thus drifts towards Oedipus empirical knowledge. The seer appears to have his place within the power structures of the Thaban palace, whose members relentlessly keep the secrets of the unspeakable deeds which occurred in the past. Our reading highlights the ironic treatment of human strategies in this tragedy of Sophocles' maturity.
