Assim busca-se problematizar a existência de um hiato entre o estabelecimento da crença no Purgatório e o surgimento de sua representação figurativa. Faz -se uma análise iconográfica de três obras de arte,em que são representados três momentos históricos distintos, permitindo assim que sejam vistas as transformações na crença no Purgatório, ao mesmo tempo em que nos permite perceber a continuidade do conceito escatológico.Palavra Chaves: Purgatório; barroco; iconografiaAbstract: The article portrays the historiographical tradition about the development of belief in Purgatory as an eschatological place, commenting mainly on the works of Jacques Le Goff, Michel Vovelle and Flávio Armando da Costa Gonçalves. Thus, we seek to problematize the existence of a gap between the establishment of belief in Purgatory and the emergence of its figurative representation. An iconographic analysis of three works of art is made, in which three distinct historical moments are represented, thus allowing the changes in the belief in Purgatory to be seen, while allowing us to perceive the continuity of the eschatological concept.Keywords: Purgatory; baroque; iconographyRecebido em: 10/07/2020 – Aceito em 26/07/2020 |
