Descripción
Sumario:Road transport infrastructure is one of the assets that is suffering and will continue to suffer the most from the impacts of climate change as global warming continues. Notably, transportation networks are essential to the economy and society and their adaptation to climate change is necessary. Thus, this paper aims to identify the main impacts of climate threats on road transport infrastructure. During the literature review (based on direct database searches and documentary searches), it was possible to identify about 60 potential impacts of the 12 climate threats analyzed, which cause damages of different magnitudes ranging from more superficial sidewalk damage to road platform collapse. In addition, important considerations on adaptation measures are made with special attention to Climate Risk Assessment and increased awareness and stakeholder engagement.
