Sumario:This study aimed to understand the professional history of the pedagogical coordinator in Brazil and its characterization to perform attributions in the pedagogical field and in the training of early childhood teachers. This is a bibliographic research, so it was used, for its reasoning, some legal documents and the research of Alves (2007), Guimarães (2011) and Libâneo, Oliveira and Toschi (2008), among others. It was sought to understand the professional history of the pedagogical coordinator in Brazil and its characterization to perform attributions in the pedagogical field and in the training of early childhood education teachers. It is of fundamental importance that there is more support to the pedagogical coordinator when he is in early childhood education centers, where he is responsible for the classes, teachers, employees and institution, a demand that requires a lot of his administrative action to the detriment of his natural and primordial function, which is pedagogical.
