Sumario:The study aimed to understand the meaning and elucidate the principle of verticalization in Federal Institutes. This principle led to a significant change in relation to educational offerings and the target audience of the institutions that gave rise to the FIs. High school students integrated with technical courses, concurrent or subsequent technical courses, professional qualification, undergraduate and graduate education started to live together, in accordance with the offers of each unit. broad and stricto sensu). Verticalization implies a profound change in pedagogical practice. For teachers, verticalization means that they work simultaneously on courses at different levels of education. There is, therefore, a need to adjust their actions, content and language to audiences with different levels of intellectual maturity and interests in relation to personal and professional choices. For students, it implies expanding opportunities to continue their training process in the same institution, from high school to graduate school.
