| Sumario: | 2010 has been the year of commemoration for the heroic deeds of Independence in whole Iberoamerica. Thus, "200 years of independence" were celebrated through national celebrations denoted as "Bicentennial". These celebrations were created to irradiate the concord and the unity between citizens, and put in the center of the theater of memory a pacific idea of the past that could legitimate the political use of the present. However, in Mexico, some political subjects and social movements criticized the sense of the celebration (what kind of past, for what kind of present?). Their action is a demonstration of the memory as a battle field, and that the struggle for the memory is also a struggle for the present. |
