| Sumario: | The article proposes a debate around the notion of reflexivity based on three central authors of contemporary French social theory: Pierre Bourdieu, Bernard Lahire and Luc Boltanski. It seeks, firstly, to unravel the meaning that Bourdieu attributes to the notion of reflexivity, pointing, above all, to its limitations. Then it is argued, based on Michel de Certeau's critique, how Bourdieu, in constructing concepts such as habitus, practical sense and field, emphasizes the reproductive, non-creative and unconscious aspects of social action and relegates the reflexive and properly "agential" dimension of social actors. The article also mobilizes the conceptions of reflexivity present in two other French post-bourdieusian writings: Lahire and Boltanski. Lahire is presented as the one who highlights the most prosaic and everyday aspects of the reflexive dimension of actions. Boltanski, in turn,is presentedas the author who brings a political dimension to the concept and, therefore, relates it to social change. |
