Descripción
Sumario:The work aims to analyze the assistance policy for street children and adolescents, since the promulgation of the Child and Adolescent Statue, in Natal, State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. For this, the historical method was used from the perspective of thematic oral history, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with two professionals from each of the services, namely: National Movement of Street Boys and Girls, Canteiros Program, Specialized Service in Social Approach and Street Clinic. The latter two are the only ones in force in the municipality today. It was observed that, despite historical violations by the public authorities, the “third sector”, at a certain moment, appears as an important articulator of rights for this population. Currently, the existing government services allow actions to guarantee rights, despite the challenges imposed.
