Sumario:This is a literature review of 13 publications, aiming to identify the prevalence of vulnerability in the elderly and associated factors. The search was carried out on the Portal CAPES, BVS Saúde and PUBMED platforms, during the period from March 10 to 13, 2020. The results of this study showed that the prevalence of vulnerability fluctuated from 32% among elderly people in the community, up to 89% among the hospitalized elderly. Being the main variables associated with the presence of vulnerability: sociodemographic factors (age, sex, education), functional (functional disability), psycho-emotional (delirium, sadness, discouragement, depression, cognitive decline), self-perceived health, heart disease, polypharmacy and limitations sensory.
