Descripción
Sumario:It analysis the information about the cultural heritage of Fortaleza-Ceará that appears in the major newspapers of state of Ceará, and the consequences for the education of city population and on the social development and the tourism in Fortaleza. To achieve this, it discusses issues related to the memory and history of Fortaleza and the means to preserve its cultural heritage. First, the documents relating to the cultural policy established by the municipal government were raised. At a second time, “Cultural Heritage” reports were retrieved in the local newspapers specialized in this matter from 2009 to 2012 in Fortaleza. It was concluded that although the theme be regularly discussed in local press the actions undertaken by the government is not completely aware to the people. That result in a lack of knowledge and information about how the cultural heritage can bring development to the city, either social or economic. This lack of awareness has a negative impact on the recovery of memory and local history as well as the preservation, conservation and enhancement.
