Descripción
Sumario:This article aimed to evaluate the management of safeguarded archaeological assets based on the analysis of historical sites from the colonial period, located on the coast of the state of Pernambuco. To this end, it was based on the management processes instituted by the 2018 Material Cultural Heritage Policy (PPCM), in the context of archaeological heritage. It was also sought to evaluate the integration of archaeological sites in the contemporary landscape, with regard to the understanding of the present time in the approach of these assets, to the reading of the territory and the social dynamics existing in it and to the stimulus to the strengthening of social groups that corroborate its preservation. The analysis, carried out from the elaboration of a matrix containing the axes recommended in the PPCM (educational, patrimonialization, surveillance and interaction) made it possible to understand the general panorama of the management of historical archaeological sites located on the Pernambuco Coast. The reading of the matrix allowed us to observe efficiency data for each axis of the process, in which it is possible to observe high rates in the scope of patrimonialization and, on the other hand, low integration rates. From the perspective of integrated and participatory management, the reality observed in the analyzed sites points to a peripheral position of civil society in the management of archaeological assets.
