Thus identified the cultural dynamic in this monuments appropriation processes, through the logic of flexible capitalism in a global society that transforms heritage in commodity, this work proposes to carry out an analysis of Pampulha’s Architectural Ensemble inscription process to verify the contradictory, by a dialectic process that identifies possible antithesis to be applied, with the aim of point possible paths to be followed in pursuit of a synthesis. The purpose of this research is to come closer to answer on whether the inscription of Pampulha’s Architectural Ensemble as a world heritage by UNESCO is, in fact, an action that aims a greater protection of the good or a way to potentialize its value as a commodity and as an element of urban marketing. Futhermore, is an attempt of unveil the values that gains emphasis in this “postmodern cult of monuments”.
