| Resumo: | Hypothyroidism is a pathology characterized by a decrease of the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which causes several structural disorders in the body. One of these disorders is the decrease in bone mass caused by calcium loss in the diminution of the metabolism of bone cells. It can found in the literature showing that aerobic exercise increases bone mass gain rehabilitatingit in a healthier state. This study aimed to analyze the effects of 120 days of swimming training on bone behavior of rats in condition of hypothyroidism. We used 24 rats Rattus Norvegicus, male with approximately 45 days, weighing 200g / 250g randomly divided into four groups: Trained group in a state of hypothyroidism (GT-HIPO), Sedentary group on condition of hypothyroidism (GS-HIPO), Trained group –distilled water (GT-AD) and sedentary group –distilled water (AD-GS). The GT-HIPO and GT-AD were trained for five days/week for 1 hour with overload attached to the thorax corresponding 5% of body weight of each animal. After 120 days the animals were sacrificed to remove the femur, radio, tibia and humerus to analyze their length and weight. Among the findings, the length of the bones did not achieve significant difference, but the weight was significant (p<0,05) in the humerus and the femur in GT-AD and GS-AD when compared to the GT-HIPO and GS-HIPO, in tibia and the radio GT-AD and GS-AD compared to in the GT-HIPO. Therefore, this study failed to achieve the desired hypothesis, which would be a change both in bone length and weight. |
