| Resumo: | This article aims to focus on the history of the creation of the former Agricultural School located in the city of Rio Pomba / MG, now the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology, and the relationship that this institution established with sports and leisure. The sources for this research were printed newspapers, mainly the Jornal Imparcial. The period analyzed was from 1962 (founding of the school) to 1969. It was observed in the news published in the newspapers the concern with sport and leisure were already evident from the foundation of the school going through the bias of the structure and local planning. It is understood that in this area the school developed and established links with the society riopombense through sports and leisure. |
