Descripción
Sumario:This research intends to demonstrate through analysis of some concepts of Space Syntax relations between the defensive system and the organization of the urban space in the Nassovian Recife (1637 - 1644), a period that includes the residence of Maurice of Nassau in the city as the governor of the Dutch rule in Brazil. Such relations will be assessed primarily in accordance with the coverage area that each fortification could defend and the consequences of this defensive system on the urban planning of the city in the time frame previous mentioned. At the end of the analysis in this research, the relations between de urban organization and the fortified complex of Recife under Nassau’s government are clearly perceived.
