| Sumario: | Medicinal plants are worldly spread deal to keep or to recover the health, including in Brazil where they are widely used. Products obtained from medicinal plants are regulated by the National System of Health Surveillance, which is coordenated by Nacional Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA). As a pharmaceutical product, there are many ways to classify phytotherapics: medicinal plants, notificated vegetal drugs, industrialized or manipulated herbal medicines. In the other hand, medicinal plants could be used in manufacturing of cosmetics and foods. The health control for these products by ANVISA is different and depend on how they are produced or their exigency degree related to safety, eficacy or quality defined in law. The different categories and the specific regulation for this products are discussed in this article. |
